We recently stayed at the Home2 Suites by Hilton Brantford for five days during a recent visit to the Ontario area. The hotel is a new-ish complex off the highways with convenient access and a fast food complex (Tims, Wendys, KFC, Taco Bell, Indian) within walking distance. The design of the property is to incorporate a few more kitchen-style amenities into a larger room ideal for longer stays (think basement suite but in a hotel). The hotel has a pool with excellent access times (no hot tub), and it also has a fitness center accessible 24/7 along with several meeting rooms for events. Front desk staff (all of them) during check in, extending stay and overall assistance were great. For some reason, one of our key cards deactivated a few times over the course of our stay, which was quickly resolved in both cases. The room was spacious and equipped with a medium sized fridge, freezer, microwave, dishes and cutlery for use. You are able to rent for free a hot plate and cookware if needed (we did not opt to). The furnishings were very nice and modern, the accommodations were clean (sheets, etc.) overall. The only minor faults I noticed were utensils not completely clean - some had water stains and slight residue from prior use. We were very comfortable nevertheless and the blinds were great at keeping the sunlight out. Breakfast was a good offering, however I do have a bit of an issue that it was offered as a “hot breakfast”, The general norm I've come to understand is that a hot breakfast will include hot proteins like eggs, bacon… the only things that were hot were the oatmeal, DIY waffles, toast and breakfast sandwiches after heating them up in the microwave. They also did not rotate or offer variety over the course of the stay (five nights) which became a bit tiresome. Moreover, you have to be on time for breakfast, as they will pull the curtains on you (quite literally) at 9:30. A suggestion to elevate this to a stellar offering would be to consider incorporating a few hot trays (eggs, bacon, sausage) and rotate them with the breakfast sandwiches. Also, some folks felt rushed to grab items at 9:30, so perhaps an extension to 10am may be helpful for late risers. Can't give half circles - a one night stay would've been a 5, but it trended down a bit given the longer stay. Overall, despite the downfalls (which were minor in the grand scheme of things), provided you mix up your breakfast and eat out every now and then for longer stays, the Home2 Suites Brantford is a very good showing indicative of its current rating on TripAdvisor. The value is really good for what you receive, that is if you are willing to be a further distance away from the GTA and Niagara Falls area. We stayed here for 3 nights for a convention taking place in Kitchener. It was very comfortable, clean and affordable. The unit has a full-size fridge and a microwave in the kitchenette; you need to provide your own kitchen tools, dishes, etc.(we bring an electric hot-plate/burner to cook on). Lots of free parking. There is a grocery store (Zehr's) just 2 kilometers away, as well as a Shoppers Drug Mart and LCBO. The staff are very helpful and it seems to be well managed. We have stayed at this property while attending at least 4 previous conventions.

I was part of a larger wedding group staying here (well at least we thought we were staying here... more to come). As part of the wedding party, I was unable to check in to the hotel myself, but once the guests started arriving, I heard from my wife that there were issues with room availability. As more guests, and spouses of the wedding party arrived, we heard more individuals who had been told that they did not have accommodations for the night, including for those who had pre paid! What was supposed to be something you do not think about once a room has been booked, started to feature as a main source of stress for a significant number of guests, including for the bride and groom, who should absolutely have never had to think about this on their day. To make matters worse, was the fact that there was not only a complete lack of ownership from the hotel, but a complete indifference to the issues. There was no accountability, no apology, just a factual statement that there would not be a room available. Next came an excuse that it was due to 2 rooms that had suffered damage. Hard to believe 2 damaged rooms would put a half dozen out as unavailable. Added to this, these rooms were booked months ago. Why would those first in the booking queue be the first to lose their room? Money. Rooms had become available (despite the hotel supposedly being full) in the week before the wedding, at nearly double the group rate that was secured for the wedding. Those who had paid the group rate were being booted from the hotel for guests who were willing to pay that new rate. Its a disgusting and slimy business practice, and worse, they did not pre warn people that their rooms were lost, and were forced to scramble at the last minute after the wedding (~2AM). The very idea that the management would put people in this position knowing full well that they would be arriving at the hotel in the middle of the night, with little option (its a wedding, people had been drinking of course) is not only irresponsible, but bordering on predatory and neglectful. to make matters worse, the attitude and indifference displayed by the management confirmed this is likely not the first time this has happened (confirmed by other commenters), and something they do as standard practice. I will never pay another cent to any facility or associated business of Marriott given the experience and indifference displayed by the employees/management, and would recommend anyone accommodating a big group look at another hotel, as I would not wish this to be repeated on anyone.

My family had a very pleasant stay at this place last night. Upon receiving check in confirmation by text, we were surprised by a free upgrade from a standard room to a standard + den room. It’s perfect for our family of 3. We love the unit and its decor, it was spacious and clean. Best part: it’s equipped with everything from TV, fridge to small oven, dishwasher, even has washer and dryer! Much more convenient for family stay in comparison to other traditional hotel! Paid for private parking which was underground, it’s perfect since we arrived on the night of a snowstorm and had to leave early 6:30am next day for a sport meet. Had a small issue upon arrival as we couldn’t get room to open with the key app. Property management Varun got it fixed remotely within minutes. We recommend this place and our family would definitely stay here again when visiting Waterloo!
