We've stayed here 8 to 10 times before and it's usually been a great trip. My husband is disabled and Marsham Court have always had the facilities to cater for him. However, in staying there in April and Sept 2024, things have drastically changed for the worse. We found plastic in my husbands breakfast in April, which was dealt with with an extra nights stay paid for by the hotel. Fair enough. However, my husband is double incontinent but they only changed his dirty pads every 3 days! However the real problems started in Sept. Pads were changed every day this time, but the bedroom floor was filthy and wasn't cleaned for 48 hours after our arrival, despite management saying it would be sorted by 1pm the following day. The hoist that is used by our carer to transfer him from bed to chair then failed, suspending my husband in the air for 25 mins or so, before the engineers could attend, making marks on his body (marks of which were evident even the next morning). When I complained, the attitude of the director James Dixon was awful, with him saying I always complain and that we shouldn't come back to the hotel again. I only complain when there is a justifiable reason. I wrote a compliant letter afterwards and they wrote back dismissing my claims out of sight, telling me there are 2 other hotels up the north of England than can cater for us!! Avoid this place at all costs.
Lovely friendly staff, and it is well presented and in a good location. Didn’t have breakfast as they charged £7.50 for beans or eggs on toast. There is parking provided, if you can get a space as there is not enough parking for the amount of rooms they have. This is my main problem, they have squeezed as many rooms into the building as possible, I understand that with more rooms you can make more money but at over £90 a night, my room is basically a corridor. Single bed and bedside table just about fit in the room, and the en suite is so narrow if I turn sideways my shoulders touch opposite walls at the same time, have to squeeze past the sink to get into the shower, the whole bathroom is barely wide enough to fit the shower tray which also makes using the toilet uncomfortable. Not much that can be done about this now as I know you’re not going to spend tens of thousand losing business to close down and remodel, but the budget rooms are so small I feel they should come with a warning. Literally prison cells are bigger. For comparison, there is s premier inn down the road, king sized bed and the room approx 3 times the size with a sofa worse, armchair and desk, better parking and amenities, and unlimited full English breakfast included, for £8 cheaper a night. I much prefer supporting small local business but I honestly cannot get over how tiny this room is. Think tiny box bedroom on a 3 bed terraced house, then halve it, then try and fit an en-suite in there.
We had a great stay at Hotel Collingwood in Bournemouth, the room was spacious and very clean . The staff could not do enough for you from the start of our visit to the finish. The food Was very good with a great breakfast and very close to the sea front, about a five minute walk , we would recommend this hotel and will differently return
My two daughters and I spent a spa day here for a Birthday treat. We were given towels, robes and slippers on arrival and spent time in the gym and pool on the ground level first. It was clean and quiet and a lovely place to relax. Downstairs leads to the spa with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and aromatherapy cave. We used all the facilities and felt very relaxed, although it was busy with other spa users. The ladies changing room is small and narrow with only one shower and two changing rooms- plenty of lockers though. However, due to so many other guests coming in and out, it was difficult to get changed. Perhaps too many guests in a small space. We then went upstairs for our afternoon tea which was lovely. We were asked if our party had any dietary requirements and these were catered for - we all enjoyed it. A big thanks to Amira who was lovely- she has helped us coordinate the day to fit in with my daughters being home from Uni and looked after us today.
SScenic44021926633This review is for people who have done a timeshare exchange and have not been here before. If you haven’t been told which apartment you have been allocated, phone or email the timeshare office to find out. Although it says arrival is at 4pm, the office is open until 7pm and then the key is taken to the hotel reception where you can collect up to 11pm. If you use a sat nav to guide you to the hotel, it will take you to Grove Road, next to the hotel, the car park is the first right (it looks like it is just a general car park but it is the hotel car park). When you enter the car park (it’s hard to see when it’s dark) drive forward towards the building and take the left turn and go straight ahead to the private car park for the apartments, and you will see a parking space name for each apartment. This was one of the best timeshare swaps we have ever done. The apartments at the Carlton Hotel, Bournemouth are amazing. Very spacious (our 2 bedroom apartment was bigger than our house) and with amazing sea views (to the left is the Isle of Wight and to the right Sandbanks and Harry’s Rock). Very well furnished and everything was high quality. The black out curtains are very effective. There are plenty of local supermarkets you can walk to. It was great to see Bournemouth and the surrounding area, from Walks on the promenade, turn right to walk to Poole and sandbanks (2 hours to sandbanks) and turn left from the hotel to walk to a nature reserve (2 hour walk) and call into Sobo cafe, which has a really nice vibe and good food. If you walk up the hill at the nature reserve you can see some amazing views, including towards the Muddiford spit and beach. It’s a short walk to visit to the Russell-Cotes museum, if you visit Sandbanks it’s great to see the multimillion pound houses, and you can catch the chain ferry from Sandbanks to Studland and head on to Swanage. On leaving Swanage it’s a short trip to Corfe and Corfe Castle. We did a trip to Keyhaven and the walk along the spit to the impressive Hurst Castle, and its amazing close up views of the Isle of Wight. On the return we caught the little ferry from Hurst Castle to Keyhaven.its then not far to take a trip to see Lymington. We ate our twice at the same place, Cote Bournemouth (a French bistro) and it was great. We already miss our amazing sea view and spacious apartment.
Had a lovely stay for 5 nights, everything clean and friendly staff, room refreshed every day with towels toiletries and tea, coffee. No problems at all.went out forbus journeys most days so didnt eat at hotel.Used indoor pool 4days so realky enjoyed our stay.
