Love the Crane!!

The place is gorgeous, love the design and layout. The restaurant choices are limiting because of the number of them and the times that they open/close. The food in the Grove restaurant is atrocious. The food at 1887 is ok, do these chefs know what salt is? D’Onofrios was excellent and the Carriage House was great too. The beach is nice, although the sargasm rolled in and made it hard to enjoy. Obviously not the hotels fault and in fact they shuttled us to another beautiful beach and paid for chairs and umbrellas for us which was super nice. My only real negative comment is that while the staff are all trained to greet guests, they were never taught to smile. Front desk, store and concierge staff are so not friendly. Helpful yes, but NOT friendly. Overall a great experience but I would not return here. Also room 551B could use a new mattress!

We arrived on Saturday 18th May. Took a shower in our room. There was no hot water and the plastic seal at the bottom of the shower door was broken. It had obviously been broken for some time. This flooded the bathroom floor. Reported the problems. We were told there is an ongoing issue with the hot water. It is now Monday morning. Still no hot water. A member of staff admitted all the complex had the same problem. The Crane seems to have a policy of reactive rather than proactive management of issues. If something doesn't work, wait until a guest reports the issue before fixing it. We have stayed here a number of times over the last 18 years. It is always the same. Usually the first 3 days are spent having minor repairs done. This trip. Apart from no hot water. The shower on the roof terrace is turned off at the wall. When you turn it on water sprays out from the connecting hose. The toilet seat requires tightening. The door into the toilet requires oiling as it screeches when you open it. There is a fan constantly running in the laundry room. The doorbell doesn't work. The cooling fan in the bedroom is either off or on. On is much to fast. The bedroom aircon control chatters like an alarm clock when it reaches the set temperature. It is so sad, because otherwise the Crane would be a wonderful resort. We are using the last of our exit points as we were interval ownership members. My wife commented that whilst we enjoyed our time here it will be nice to go somewhere in the future where all the facilities work and the first 3 days are not spent snagging problems which are easily rectified.

I enjoyed my trip to The Crane, but I probably wouldn't call it one of the best resorts I've ever been to. The grounds were gorgeous, and the room was lovely. We upgraded to a room with a private pool which was definitely worth it! My only complaints about the room were the amount of wires around the private pool and the water looked a little cloudy. I was lucky our AC worked! I found the staff to be fairly unfriendly. I was rarely greeted with a smile by waiters and hosts at restaurants. It seemed like most of the employees did not want to be there. The housekeeping staff was wonderful though! Our room was spotless everyday and when we asked for more towels they gave us two bags full. One of the three cliff pools was closed, which would have been nice to know in advanced but no big deal. The two cliff pools of the complex that were open had very cloudy water. People were playing music from a speaker one day which made it difficult to relax. There were also wires in the pool which made me anxious. They did have water out everyday for guests which was a nice touch, and on some days there was poolside service! My main complaint is when I returned home and found a charge on my credit card that I did not make. I contacted the hotel and they said there was nothing about the charge in any of their systems, so I'm still confused how I got charged to begin with. I was told that a manager emailed me about the issue twice, but am yet to receive an email. I'm hoping they will be able to resolve this issue and I won't be stuck paying for a charge I did not make at the hotel. Overall, I would consider going back to The Crane but probably wouldn't pick it over other hotels.

Both rooms I checked into was disgusting, the bed was dirty and smelly and floor was dirty and i had to have them come and cleaned the room again. Staff was very rude at concierge and front desk

Security. The staff was very friendly and polite. All request was received and expedited.

Lovely resort! Food, area, room, pools, staff, and the beach was lovely! Would definitely visit again!

We did not get our room until 5:40pm staff very unfriendly and rude. Food is very hard to find all restaurants booked room service stated 1:45min minimum for food. Went to the bar only thing available was pizza. Practically inedible this place is at best a 2 star resort and that is being generous. Would not stay here again even if it was free

As long-time owners, we are disheartened by the decline of The Crane Resort. Upon arrival, we saw another owner waiting for over two hours for their room. Our unit had mold in the sink and toilet, a broken toilet seat, damaged floors, a broken thermostat, and unfinished work. Essential furniture was missing. The new staff is unprofessional and rude, a stark contrast to the past. Only one transport cart was available, and it couldn't even turn left. The management has let this once-luxury resort fall into disrepair. We advise potential guests to reconsider their stay until significant improvements are made.
