I am currently staying at Lancaster Plaza Beirut, in Room 720 (7th floor, corner room), with a confirmed reservation until 1 February. Due to the issues outlined below, I am seriously considering checking out earlier than planned. Unfortunately, this stay has been deeply disappointing and does not reflect a five-star hotel experience by any international standard. Noise insulation & sleep quality Room 720 is adjacent to Room 718, and the sound insulation is extremely poor. Loud door slamming, corridor noise, and conversations outside the neighboring room are clearly audible inside the room and directly affect the sleeping area. As a result, I was only able to sleep for approximately three hours, waking up multiple times due to noise. Rest and comfort—basic expectations in any hotel—were not met. Do Not Disturb not respected Despite activating Do Not Disturb through the in-room system and placing a Do Not Disturb sign clearly on the door, the room was still knocked on multiple times. This defeats the entire purpose of DND and reflects a serious operational failure and lack of respect for guest privacy. Front desk attitude & professionalism One of the front desk staff members demonstrated very poor hospitality standards. The interaction was cold and unwelcoming, without even a basic smile, and phone calls were handled while addressing guests. For a hotel claiming five-star status, this level of front-line service is unacceptable. Guest relations & management accessibility There appears to be no effective Guest Relations function. Attempts to reach Guest Relations were unsuccessful, and during the afternoon/evening the reception seemed understaffed. Reaching a Duty Manager was unnecessarily difficult, which is far below acceptable hospitality standards. Room condition, furniture & flooring The room condition does not meet five-star standards at all and is closer to a three-star hotel at best. The flooring is worn and scratched, uncomfortable both visually and physically. The room door and fittings show clear signs of neglect, and the interior design feels outdated and poorly maintained. The attached photos accurately reflect the real condition of the room. Housekeeping & cleanliness Housekeeping staff were polite; however, cleaning quality was inconsistent. Tables were not properly wiped, bathroom fittings show visible wear, and attention to detail was lacking. Hot beverage hygiene & safety concerns A particularly alarming issue relates to health and safety. The in-room electric kettle was visibly dirty and poorly maintained. In addition, no metal teaspoons were provided for hot drinks—only plastic stirrers intended for cold beverages. When this was raised, I was advised to use the plastic stirrer for hot drinks, which is unsafe and unhealthy. Plastic is not suitable for high-temperature liquids, and this reflects a serious lack of basic food safety awareness. Internet connectivity & reliability The internet service is extremely poo
