The resort is absolutely stunning - from the rooms to the views, the food and especially the drinks. Blake, the bartender at the Casa 71 tequila lounge was the highlight of our trip - we went down an amazing mezcal tasting journey together and he went above and beyond when making our drinks off menu. Go by the lounge and request the Pink Dragon drink if you’re a fan of mezcal and prickly pear, we created the drink together!
The place was nice and in a decent location. Our room was nice but the living area windows were frosted so not a lot of light could come in.... good for some but not me. The food was marginal for the most part. There is a nice outdoor seating area. The price was reasonable. There is a nice pool in a courtyard setting.
This hotel is not worthy of the Doubletree brand. It is old and tired with issues throughout. Stayed one night to be close to the airport for an early morning flight. I asked for a first floor room close to the lobby so they put me as far away as possible in the second floor - the design of the hotel is outdoor entry once past the lobby which involves navigating large luggage through doors with no auto opener. Fine, but once in the room, it was tired musty. The phone wasn’t turned on so I had to call the desk because there are no channel guides in the room - they are at the front desk and need to be delivered - why they don’t put one in every room is a mystery. The bedside lamp outlet didn’t work and the pillows had dark smudges on them. I was tired so I didn’t complain. In the morning, found shampoo bottle broken and on the shower floor. To top it off, there was no hair dryer and the front desk said it would take 20 minutes when the shuttle driver gets back - left for the airport with wet hair. My advice is to avoid this hotel and stay a few doors down at the Hilton Garden Inn. This hotel is not Hilton-worthy.
Expectations were somewhat higher due to the reviews. Maybe it was the room itself which was spacious and clean but the bathroom was mostly the problem. It was too big, very cold due to leaky windows and no heater. Slow drains all around, faucet about to come off, could use an entire makeover. It was very cold during our stay so the room heater was working almost 24/7. Heater temp and air temp didn't feel right, sometimes not enough heat, other times too warm. Could not regulate the temperature well, plus with all the leaky windows, maybe that was the best it could do under the circumstances. Best part of the room was it was upstairs and the view was very nice, if you ignored all the noise from the staff maintenance area. The breakfast buffet was okay, slight variation each morning but the wait staff was not very friendly and not attentive at all. One coffee refill would of been nice, which most of us had to ask for and half the time they never came back. If they were real busy, we could understand but being close to the kitchen area, you could hear them talking and not attending to the clientele. Will not be going back anytime soon.
I wish we could take this hotel with us all along our trip. I don’t want to leave tomorrow! The room was very nice, bed slept well, everything in our room worked great! Complimentary breakfast was very good, too. Many choices. The only suggestion I would make would be to brighten up the lobby. It is a little dark and not real inviting but once you get to your room you will forget about the lobby!
