Bacolux Afrodita Resort & Spa, Herculane

This was advertised as an 4* hotel, fully refurbished aso. The fact is that the room needed some repairs asap (see pictures). Destroyed walls, bathroom aso. Cleaning was simply not present (the bed sheets were dirty, the vase was absolutely full of dust). The only good thing about is was the swimming pool, decent size but the site advertised "sulfurous thermal pools" when in fact it was regular warmed pool water. The size of the room was more like a closet with some furniture crowded in an impossible, thoughtless manner. The table and two seats blocked completely the access to the wardrobe, there was no way to open the door. The light switch was falling down and is a real risk for adults not to mention small children. The balcony had 2 lonely chairs, no table or anything else. The restaurant (paid one) is a joke, the food in overpriced and terrible, but terrible, the second course could not be eaten due to lack of cooking and the soups were all the same, just the meat was different. Would never go back. Do not recommend it to anyone. Pick a B&B in Eselnita instead if you want to visit the area.

Unfortunately a bad experience, we will never go there again.

I booked the hotel, because of spa baths, but was disappointed to find hot tap water with chlorine not minerals as explained on reservation and by the you tube video saying red Sea salt magnesium and mineral baths only chlorine water, food ok not that great,staff at reception not trained like ihg hotels to say how can I help to make your stay memorable, but they speak like we give a dam call the person who took your reservation

It was recently refurnished but not entirely with first quality materials, and also I have doubts about their capacity and interest to assure a proper maintenance. So, hurry up if you want to enjoy it in its current state. The spa area is quite nice and relaxing, but unfortunately it shows some small but "promising" signs of deterioration. Breakfast and the other meals served were tasty and exceeded the 3 stars standard.

One of the BEST that Romania can offer ! They are AFRODITA - Popescu Raul, Oprescu Paul, Raescu Cosmina, Popescu Daniel, Badea Adrian, Mantoc Ioana and COSMIN M. They and many others, same as them, a young, committed, professional team. A perfectly managed team where each member knows exactly what, when and how to DO ! And they all do it at their best. I know Because I am here now, in room 607 ! No matter how precious and pretentious, no matter how demanding you are, you have no reason to not qualify as superlative, the moments spent in this resort. Considering location, facilities, comfort, cleanliness, staff behavior, the delights offered by the restaurants, the quality of entertainment offered to guests, the excellent care for children, the high standards of medical care and treatment practiced physicians, therapists, in a word, by committed, dedicated staff, all one can say is BRAVO, Afrodita ! We are impressed by the manner how the staff, the excellent team of the resort understands to treat guests, regardless of age or level of health. And that's not little! On the contrary ! As a conclusion, THANKS, AFRODITA. I will be back....E.G. IONESCU

If you want to relax this is the place . I've been here several times , and every time I liked it more and more. Baile Herculane is a miracle of nature and Afrodita Hotel provides high quality services . Spotlessly clean rooms , even for a clean freak :). Breathtaking view from rooms, the cleanest air that you can breathe , extremely good food cooked in their own kitchen , live music every evening , friendly staff and a playground for children.The spa area is absolutely gorgeous . Swimming pool with warm water , jacuzzi , sauna, massage . The only feeling you have is that you don't have enough time to enjoy everything that surrounds you

It was a great holiday at Bacolux Afrodita Resort & Spa. Very nice view from the balcony over the mountains. We relaxed at the well maintained and clean Spa area. Varied and tasty breakfast and dinner. The staff is very kind and helpful. Congratulations to the hotel management! In conclusion: a beautiful reborn hotel where you can live unforgettable moments. We will definitely return to this great resort!

We booked here for a week's break in this traditional spa town set in forested hills. The town of Baile Herculane has two parts, with Afrodita and several rather similar high-rise hotels are clusted in the southern resort portion - the sites and older town are further north. There are both positive and less good aspects to the hotel, and it probably merits a score somewhere between average and very good. The positives included some good expert staff in the spa for massages, sauna etc, a pleasant bar and terrace by the access road, and bedrooms with balconies which were quite small but well-appointed. Less attractive was the breakfast experience, with formulaic buffet food and too many people - though having chosen a spa hotel rather than a small pension, that "goes with the territory"! Staff were generally efficient and helpful. Resort hotels like this often have 'events' and we attended a wine-tasting which was distinctly underwhelming, with just three wines from the same producer on offer. However, given what we were seeking (a comfortable hotel with easy access to the historical sites and forest walks), Afrodita fitted the bill - it simply wasn't that special!
