Perfect location, near the shops, the markets, the restaurants, the train station; the beach, the supermarkets, the quay (for boat trips). Couldn’t fault it. The reception staff were particularly helpful and having arrived early on a train from Paris they phoned us as soon as our room was ready. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and helpful. The small kitchen was well equipped and we even had a mini dishwasher. An unexpected balcony was a bonus. We never tried the breakfast (we were too close to the boulangerie/patisserie) or the hot tub. The roof top terrace was ok but we never actually sat up there. Couldn’t fault it!
We chose an average-priced 3-star hotel for our stay. Breakfast was an extra €11, and with the added local tourist tax, we paid €140 per night per couple. On the plus side, the twin beds were spotless and comfortable, the air- conditioning worked well, there was constant hot water, breakfast was a hugely varied and excellent buffet with friendly helpful staff, and we always found a space in the car park. On the minus side, the rooms were small and dated, only one bed had a bedside table so the hard Formica chair had to be used as a substitute, no mini- bar, and no tea and coffee making facilities; there were not even glasses for drinking and/or teeth cleaning - just two very flimsy paper cups instead. There was a coffee machine in the entrance hall, with capsules available for €1 from the desk staff, (if they were there), although there was plenty of space below the desk in the room to have installed a mini -bar , with a tray of cups and a kettle on the top. If the hotel could completely redesign , with fewer and larger bedrooms and more guest comforts, this could be a splendid 3-star hotel ; as it is, it is 2-star at 3-star prices. We were only there for two nights and I was simply disappointed; had we been there for a week’s holiday, it would have spoilt it.
was in contact with the hotel when I did the booking, and before our arrival, regarding some questions. As a frequent traveler, both privately and for business, I prioritize a healthy indoor environment, which for me also includes avoiding hotels that are polluting the indoor environment with scented cleaning detergent and/or ”air fresheners” etc. Best Western Arcachon Le Port replied that they only use nonscented products for cleaning the rooms, and no ”air fresheners” is used. Upon arrival, this was 100% confirmed, and it met our expectations. We got two bright and clean rooms. Both rooms had small balconies. The hotel offers a good breakfast which, we also enjoyed a lot. During our 4 day stay, we also had the pleasure of using the rooftop bar at the hotel, which offers a nice view over Arcachon. The hotel is located in a nice quiet area, approximately 1 km from Plage D´Arcachon a beautiful sandy beach. On behalf of the entire family, I can give my warmest recommendation of Best Wester Arcachon Le Port. And if we are again in the area of Arcachon, we will for sure book a stay at Best Western Le Porte
A lovely hotel where we were warmly welcomed. We had a great view to the beach and loved having the door open watching the thunder storm. We were easily able to store our bikes that we had rented in the shed out the back and our shower was certainly the best we have had on our trip.
This was the second time we have stayed at Les Bains d’Arguin. We has specifically asked not to be in a certain room which we had last year. We had booked an Executive room with a view of the Bassin. Please note all these rooms look onto the car park with a very limited view of the Bassin if you are standing right out on the small balcony. Last year our room overlooked the bins and staff entrance to the kitchen. Once we checked in and were given our keys, we discovered that we had exactly the same room as the previous year and I went back to Reception to ask to change room. We had specifically asked not to be in that room and having booked 3 months earlier they had certainly had prior warning. The Receptionist said there was nothing she could do for 5 days until a large group checked out. I complained that it wasn’t good enough and it was our second visit to the Hotel. So we had to stick with this awful, dark room and the smell of the bins wafting up every time we opened the balcony doors. The rooms are very tired and would need some investment. The shower door leaked as it had done the year before. You are given paper cups instead of glasses. The bath robes were very worn and had seen better days. The Staff in the Thalasso were not very welcoming either and it seemed like we were bothering them when trying to book some treatments. I managed to book a couple of treatments but found them very average. Both of the treatments were carried out by staff who had only been there a few months and I found them quite inexperienced. My cuticles are still recovering from the manicure I had. The Thalasso centre itself is quite nice and the indoor pool is very nice. The outdoor pool was very cold and it is always difficult to find a sun bed. Guests fight over them and people are constantly on the move between treatments. We had booked half board and the breakfast is passable, nothing special. I however did enjoy the evening meals and I think this is the highlight of this hotel. The meals are well balanced and enjoyable. The Staff in the Restaurant are probably the nicest in the whole of the Hotel. We did ask one evening why the service was taking so long and we were told as the Hotel was full it would be like this for the next 15 days! The French lack of Customer Service does make me laugh at times. Luckily the hotel is situated 400m from a very nice beach. The centre of Arcachon is quite a walk away but always a joy to visit. We also really liked La Mouette which is the next beach and town up from the hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel and would never go back to it. It is no way a 4 star hotel. I would give it a very low 3 stars. They really need to invest in the upkeep of the hotel and in staff Customer training. Although I love this area of France, I wouldn’t want to be disappointed again and not enjoy my well earned holiday. I absolutely hate feeling stressed on holiday and having to fight for what I feel I have paid for.
