"Feels budget, standard business type hotel, room does not have kettle and reception originally said there are none left, and to get hot water from the machine downstairs (bring it cup by cup) Until the wife made a reasonable but firm request to sort it, then reception went around other rooms and found us one. Parking is 150kr per day as of writing, even though there are plenty of space. Don't think it is a 4 star as claimed, max 3."

"All the staff was so supportive, child friendly, patient and smiling all the time. A gym would be a good additive. The activities were very expensive. Included sauna would be great."

"We had a fantastic stay at Flatmoen Natur Lodge in Alta. The cabins are modern, very clean, and well designed, with private jacuzzis that made it easy to relax after a long day outside. A highlight of the trip was the horse-drawn sleigh ride with Johnny. It included a campfire dinner and was a really memorable experience. Johnny is the real deal, a genuinely kind and authentic person who clearly cares about what he does and about his guests. Overall, a unique and comfortable place to stay, with experiences that feel personal rather than touristy. We would absolutely come back."

Bjørnfjell Mountain Lodge

"We stayed for 6 nights at Bjornfell, in one of the lodges. The beds were super comfy, and we had a kitchen and fabulous bathroom. The breakfasts are buffet style, and they will cook eggs as you request. Not huge choice but enough for everyone to choose something they like, including lovely bacon and beans ! Dinner is a set menu for the week, there are daily specials but the choice is a bit limited. Kids have a choice of 2 meals or one off the main. The trips they organise are amazing- the trip to the top of the mountain , dinner over a fire watching the aurora was fabulous. We also enjoyed tobogganing and the kids loved playing in the snow. Lots of areas for them to sledge and play. Everyone we met has been super helpful and friendly, really great service and nothing is too much trouble. They organised all our transfers to all activities for the week, including some late night pick ups. They also hired us snow gear for the week. It’s been a great base for us in Alta and would recommend for a lovely isolated break in the snow"

"The hotel is located in a pedestrian zone. The parking lot is located in the shopping center diagonally across the street. There's a fee for this during the day. The room was good, clean, and the curtains provided good blockouts. The beds were a bit narrow. The restaurant served tapas. There were lots of small dishes to choose from. You could order via your smartphone. Small burgers, small lasagna, everything was small, so you could try a lot of different things. The prices were reasonable, and everything was truly delicious. It was an experience for us!"

"Comfortable hotel in the centre of Alta, stayed here for just one night as part of our journey to Bergsfjord for a fishing holiday, clean, comfortable beds, decent breakfast and friendly staff, has its own restaurant and bar, decent price for what was delivered"

Gargia Lodge

"On Friday February 20th 2026 we had booked a snowmobile ride in combination with ice fishing. Our guide Marion helped us put on all the necessary clothing (feeling temperature on the plateau -36°), explained how the snowmobile worked, and so on. We enjoyed the ride, enjoyed the fishing even though we didn’t catch anything and enjoyed the hot meal Marion had prepared for us. As a bonus on the drive back we spotted a moose in the forest.
