We always look for accommodation near our favourite restaurant New Hatay, which is our base for every visit to Istanbul. So we were very happy when we were able to book the Sapphire Hotel, which has such good reviews and is only 40m from our restaurant. Unfortunately, our trip did not start well. At Sabiha Gökçen airport, the taxi driver of a small Fiat explained to us that the best way to go was through the Avrasya tunnel. He dropped us off in the street above the hotel and claimed that the tunnel toll was 246 TRY and the total fare was thus 665 TRY. That's about double what we normally pay. The receptionist at the hotel, told us that the 665 TRY figure was normal, which was surprising given the fact that we had booked a Mercedes back to the airport and the fare was 600 TRY. Taxis in general are a big problem at the hotel - the front desk repeatedly refused to order us a taxi - once saying that the taxi would arrive in an hour or so, the second time saying that they can't order a taxi several hours in advance and if we want one, we have to return to the hotel an hour before the requested arrival time and then the front desk can order a taxi for us. However, the receptionist was unable to explain to us why he could not order the taxi an hour in advance himself, why we had to return to the hotel for this. We were eventually helped by the restaurant staff where they ordered the taxi ahead without any problems and then arranged the aforementioned Mercedes for us on our last day at the airport. The hotel itself is very nice, but the standard room is so miniature that you don't even have a basic space on the toilet to perform all your needs. As well, there is a space of about 10 cm around the bed that doesn't allow you to lie on the bed in the normal way, you have to get on it from the headboard. The soundproofing is disastrous, every time someone flushes the toilet in the room above you can hear the water running so intensely that you feel like you are going to get hit, at night the noise wakes you up every time. There is a fridge in the room but no water bottle. The first time the reception generously gave it to us for free, the second time the receptionist sent me to the basement restaurant at night to get water, where luckily there were two employees already on their way out and they sold me two pint bottles for 10 TRY. I only wanted one, but the gentleman didn't have the change for 10 TRY, so he gave me two. There are two small lifts in the hotel. When we called, the elevator was always full of other guests, plus it was going in the opposite direction to us, so we waited several minutes each time. Breakfast was relatively plentiful in choice but the quality of food and drink was terrible. There is WiFi in the hotel which works perfectly everywhere, except in the underground restaurant where there is no WiFi at all. There are two lovely, large lounges on the ground floor near

After a transfer from hospital dropping us off 2 hours early for check in the staff at the front of house advised us that they would do their best to get us in early. When a room became available we would get it. Then when a room became available the young man was going to give us it when another staff member said no that he was to give it to the Turkish couple that had just come in. Thankfully the young man stood his ground and we were shown to the room. Room service was none existent, you use a QR code to place an order then you wait and you wait nothing arrives. You then have to go down to order the food anyway. This happened on every occasion we used room service. We got so fed up trying to use the service we gave up. There were 2 comfortable seating areas the rest were metal tables and chairs that just were not comfortable and frankly did not feel safe. The comfortable seating areas were reserved every day for staff and family. On one occasion that they were not reserved we sat down. When 3 very rude members of staff came to put new cushions on then promptly tried to move us and reserve the seating. We choose to ignore them and sat back down, they placed the reserved plaque on the table in front of us. The cleaning staff were the only thing that the hotel has going for it. Very friendly and very helpful they could not have been nicer and very efficient.

We both had wonderful stay and were pretty impressed with not only the hotel, but the staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The room was clean, modern and well maintained, and, the beds were very comfortable. I really don't understand what the negative reviews are about! Granted it's not 5* establishment (5* as you know it), but for £35 a night (£42 with breakfast), what do people really expect? If pure luxury is what one is seeking, then other hotels priced in the hundreds should be considered to avoid disappointment. The price of our stay included full use of the spa (gym, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, large swimming pool etc); breakfast; toiletries in our room; complimentary bottle of water and free WiFi. (The pool wasn't cold at all, as someone suggested in an earlier review). With regards to breakfast, there was such a huge variety available (over 12 different breads and pastries, a range of hot and cold food, plus endless amounts of fruit). All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Opposite a park and overlooking the Bosphorus, the hotel had a nice outlook. The rooms were comfortable and clean with simple furnishings. They are not well sound-proofed so when other guests are noisy in the areas outside the room it can be heard clearly inside the rooms. A breakfast buffet is included in the price and is served on a terrace on the top floor with lovely views. The staff are very friendly.knowledgeable and helpful. They are always available to assist. Reasonably priced and good value.

|0.31km กม.จากตัวเมืองPros: -very close to the hagia Sofia and Blue mosque. -You have a beautiful view of the blue mosque from the terrace, I can imagine it would be beautiful to sit there and eat breakfast in the summer. -clean towels and bedding -The house keeping were super friendly and ready to help and front of house were really welcoming too. -Close to tram and metro lines -24 hour shop literally 1 minute walk - front of house are present 24 hours a day Cons: - we were on the ground floor and it was quite noisy at night when some guests had come back from nights out - quite noisy from traffic in the morning as the hotel is situated on a street - very small room - small shower area - fridge did not work - breakfast was bare minimum so don’t expect much (no bread just baguettes sliced up to toast and eat as you please, standard salads and cereal) If I was on a budget, I would book this hotel again for the sheer fact that it’s close to everywhere we needed to go and we didn’t spend much time at the hotel at all. For £30 a night it was a bargain!

The admin was very good, in particular the organisation of transport to and from the airport. The breakfast was very varied, to satisfy the tastes of the different nationalities staying there. Each afternoon coffee and cakes were provided free of charge in a small lounge area. The room was small but pleasant, providing everything we needed, including reliable wifi.

Breakfast was great, we were there after 10 days spent in a luxury 5 star resort and felt the breakfast at Arena was more homemade type. The negatives though are affecting the fundamentals of a hotel stay, the ability to sleep. We stayed in room 111, effectively 2 double rooms sharing 1 bathroom for a family, again great beds and pillows but it seemed the machine for the old lifts were as if inside our room, everyone the lift moves you hear 3 loud rotating noises inside the room, kept waking up my daughter and rest of family all night. If there is no solution for it then hotel should change the rooms to some sort of office or storage location. Sound insulation is pretty much non existent in the building, cobbled street might be cute but in Arena's case it makes the sound from cars even louder. Shame because they really had nice hotel manager and 2 gentlemen helping always. But the good news it is fixable....

The rooms were cleaned everyday to a good standard however a bit on the small side. The view from our room and also the restaurant looked onto the blue Mosque and Haga Sofia with the Bosphorus in the back ground, its spectacular during sunset The hotel provided Suhoor as we stayed during the month of Ramadan, it was basic Turkish style food, do not expect a continental style breakfast. They could improve on the cold drinks section, it was very watery. For some reason the water supply went off on the morning of check out, we only had a water bottle to brush our teeth and then leave for the airport, no explanation given. The staff are friendly enough, mainly nodded and waved as we went past, thats ok with me I would stay here again if I was to visit in the future

Any time we asked for assistance or more water there was no issues. Great location near major walking street. Twelve minute walk to Galata Tower. The facilities were wonderful. Yekta is number one and very helpful and really he is perfect for the Hospitality industry. at the breakfast Dinner, you will be welcomed by the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager Mr.Tansu with a gentle smile and welcome you. as well as the Food & Beverage Manager Mr. Onour will be waiting for you at the Restaurant Entrance to welcome you with a Charming Smile. At last, I must say the Door Man Mr. Hassan will never let you carry anything he takes it from you and delivers it to your room very quickly with a smile. Ojan the Guest Service Agent, goes out of the way to help you and meets you with a charming Smile. I must say my stay at Sheraton Istanbul was perfect and the team made perfect and they treat you like family. I would recommend it to all for Business & Leisure. |4.45km กม.จากตัวเมืองWe stayed at the hotel in November 2023. Family of 4. therefore we booked 2 rooms. The hotel was able to reserve the rooms for us next to each, that was very convenient. Rooms: had everything we needed, I liked that there was no carpeting, I prefer bare floors as there’s no dust accumulating in the carpet. Our rooms faced the street and every morning we were woken up by Azan. Magical sound, yet very early, so, be aware of you like to sleep in. The mosque was right across from the hotel, I don’t know if you are able to hear it if you room is in the back. Excellent breakfast. Hot and cold items. We didn’t quite enjoy the dinner food. It was served a bit cold, took a long time (and we were the only one in the restaurant) and cost seemed a bit high for the items ordered. We only ate at the hotel restaurant one time, the evening we arrived, just for convenience. There are a few fast food places and small restaurants and cafes on the street where the hotel is, and because it’s not quite the city center, the prices are much better than around famous attractions. There is a grocery store across the hotel, you can buy some snacks or drinks. We bought cup o noodles there to eat in the evening as well. You can also buy famous Turkish coffee there, which is soooo much cheaper than in gift shops around attractions. There is a lady working at the front desk, Ezgi, she is so helpful and courteous. She is a true asset to the hotel’s team. Very knowledgeable. The hotel has a contracted taxi, I guess you can call it this, you can use the taxi to get to places in the city. You pay directly to the taxi driver. If you pay with a card, there is a surcharge fee. You can exchange money at the front desk. Perhaps the exchange rate was a bit less than in the city center center, but it felt safer for me to exchange money inside the hotel. The tram stop is right in front of the hotel. And the tram will take you directly to The Blue Mosque Area, Galata Tower, all the famous spots . We had water in our room every day, so we didn’t have to buy any extra bottles. The gym is on a small side but had good equipment. However the music is set to a very loud level. VERY loud. I asked the attendant to turn it down a bit and he said this is the requirement to have it that loud. Maybe for a large gym it would have been ok, but for a small area it was very uncomfortable. There is an outdoor pool, we didn’t use it since it was cold. We enjoyed hammam, nice relaxing place. We would stay at the hotel again if we are back in Istanbul. Reason for Visit:Family vacation

Although the hotel furnishings were old and not suitable for a 5-star hotel, the rooms were clean and the environment was quiet. The staff were very polite and helpful. I suggest having breakfast at this hotel as it will not disappoint you. The overall experience was pleasant and I would consider staying at this hotel again in the future.
